Insights From The Event "Digital Age: Emerging Technologies, Opportunities, and Challenges" At Goa Vidyaprasarak Mandal's College
On August 1, 2024, I had the honour of engaging in an inspirational induction program organised by the Department of Computer Applications (B.C.A) at Goa Vidyaprasarak Mandal’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce and Economics in Farmagudi, Ponda-Goa. The event, which was organised in collaboration with the Goa Technology Association (GTA), was titled “Digital Age: Emerging Technologies, Opportunities, and Challenges.”
It was an inspiring day to inspire the young minds of students by providing dedicated guidance to motivate them to learn the concepts of the ever-evolving world of technology. I was fortunate to give a session on “Opportunities for Goans in IT”. The students were very enthusiastic about the session as it could be reflected on their faces and I was honoured to be one of the resource persons guiding them alongside distinguished professionals from the IT industry.
The program commenced with warm welcomes from Dr. Daphne Faria and Mrs. Supriya Dessai, followed by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Principal Prof. Teotone Vaz’s inspiring address set the tone for the event, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and adaptation in today’s digital age.
As the event progressed, I found myself amidst an esteemed panel of resource persons, including Jyothi Shet, HR Director at Tangentia India Technologies Pvt Ltd, Ivo Costa, Director of Engineering at Creative Capsule, Verna, and Gourish Bhat, Co-Founder of Gyrono Tech. Each of us shared our perspectives on the vibrant and growing IT ecosystem in Goa.
During my session, I highlighted the success stories emerging from Goa’s IT landscape, illustrating the immense potential for innovation and growth. I encouraged the students to remain vigilant and seize opportunities as they arise, to think innovatively, solve societal challenges, and consider building startups. I emphasized the importance of hard work and manifestation in achieving one’s goals and urged the students to participate actively in IT
summits to expand their horizons.
The program included insightful discussions about forthcoming technologies, Goa’s IT sector challenges, and the core abilities needed for career success. To survive in today’s dynamic tech scene, experts highlighted the significance of continual learning, adaptation, and attaining practical skills. The crowd’s eager participation and engagement reflected the event’s success.
Being a part of this event was a fulfilling experience. It was an excellent platform to share knowledge, inspire young minds, and witness the bright future of Goa’s IT industry. I left the event with a renewed sense of purpose and hope, anticipating the innovations and accomplishments that these young people will certainly accomplish. My sole motive for this event was to share the inspiration and knowledge I gained in my life with a wider audience. As a young lad in my time, belonging to a small village from Ponda, I came and conquered many battles to build a future in the tech field and this generation too, with their skills and available resources, can be empowered to do miracles. The future of technology in Goa looks promising, and it was a privilege to contribute to this journey.
