Insights From The Event "Digital Age: Emerging Technologies, Opportunities, and Challenges" At Goa Vidyaprasarak Mandal's College

I had the wonderful opportunity, through my strategic work as an IT professional in Goa, to assist my client at “The Green Goa Summit 2024.” This event was timely in its focus on safeguarding the future by encouraging the implementation of greener practices in our daily lives. The event was organized by the Vibrant Goa Foundation promoting sustainability. It brought together some of India’s most influential environmental experts to discuss, inspire, and guide participants on a collective green journey.

Attending the summit allowed me to connect with key stakeholders and help sustainable businesses thrive by promoting eco-friendly initiatives through tailored digital strategies. The event provided an opportunity to learn, expand my digital approach, and assist clients in achieving success by promoting their sustainable ventures effectively.

The summit opened with keynote addresses from notable figures such as Shri. Babaji Gaonkar from the Department of Planning, Statistics, and Evaluation (DOPSE), Dr. Padma Rao, Chief Scientist from the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), and Commdant P. K. Khuswaha, representing SORR India’s Sustainable Oil Recovery & Remediation Solution. Each speaker eloquently shared their vision and practical solutions for environmental challenges, from statistical analysis of Goa’s environmental progress to groundbreaking innovations in oil recovery and plastic resource recovery, as highlighted by Mr. Narendran Subramaniam from Circular Seed (Australia).

A highlight of the summit was the panel discussions, where renowned environmentalists and industry leaders came together to delve into pressing topics. One such session, moderated by Shri. Rajkumar Kamat, Chairman of Vibrant Goa Foundation, focused on green practices in Goa, with experts like Shri. Ranjeet Phillipose from the TAJ Group and Shri. Kiran Desai from Deccan Fine Chemicals leading the charge on how corporate responsibility can blend with sustainability. Equally enriching was the panel on the Circular Economy, led by Shri. Prabjot Sodhi from CEE, shed light on how Goa can adopt circularity principles to reduce waste and maximize resources.

Another pivotal session was the roadmap discussion for accelerating Goa’s ESGs (Environmental, Social, and Governance), chaired by Dr. Ashok Khosla. Experts from across sectors provided actionable strategies, making it clear that a collaborative effort between government, corporations, and citizens is essential to achieving these ambitious goals.

The valedictory session was a fitting end to the summit, with Shri. Mahesh Patil, Chairman of GSPCB, summarised the event’s outcomes and set the tone for future collaborations. MOUs were signed between key players, including Bisleri, GSL, and the Taj Group of Hotels, underscoring the importance of public-private partnerships in driving sustainable change. Shri Arman Bankley, President of the Vibrant Goa Foundation, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all participants and partners in making the event a success.

The closing remarks by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Minister Shri. Mauvin Godinho were both motivating and reassuring, affirming their support for a greener Goa.

The evening came by early as the time flew with engaging thoughts and a wealth of ideas shared by the distinguished speakers was truly impressive. I left the premises of Green Goa Summit 2024, taking with me all the knowledge to incorporate into my lifestyle. Along with ideas, I also made connections with people having a collective vision for a sustainable future. This event not only served as a reminder of the power of collaboration but also opened doors for collaborations that glorified my business, enabling me to play a role in the success of various green, eco-friendly, and sustainable initiatives.
